Flint, a True, sets out to find his lost sister, and to escape from his parents, and learns the wonders of the world.

08.01.2011 21:26 malte@skipforward.net If you expect detailed and believable descriptions of a biotech-infused world, this book will disappoint you. Apart from a corrupted jungle, a society of basically savages, and some biotech oracles (AIs) giving consolation to people, not much is to be seen here. Most of the story is just about Flint's search for his sister which gets annoying pretty soon. Parts of the story (for example Flint's convenient learning of outstanding fighting skills in some days) are not convincing. While the blurb claimed an investigation of what it means to be human, this is at most hinted at, but not really developed properly. All in all, a letdown for me after reading The Accord, which is also a blend of genres, but worked much better for me.
