From memory: Biotech scientist develops 'intelligent cells' in lab. Smuggles them out of the lab injected in his own bloodstream. The cells start evolving, improving the scientist 's body along the way. Scientist infects other people, eventually causing all humans and other organisms to coalesce into a single 'superbeing' |

Read the novel quite some years ago. Liked it very much as it was radically different from other hard scifi novels I was reading at the time. Was really struck by the imagination of Greg Bear. | |

Two weeks into the future, some genetic manipulation awakens dormant DNA that leads to intelligent cells. Perfectly entertaining - slightly clumsily written. In particular every character introduction by CV annoyed me. |
