(set in Larry Niven's Known Space/Kzin universe) A Kzin with a courage issue grows up in disgrace, finds his vocation as a trainer of 'animal' slaves (Jotoks, spider-like beings that only assemble from several independent intelligent legs when maturing), is sent to the battlefront of the Kzin-Man war, and in the end brings crucial knowledge to the Kzin. |
