A monk or something who has some physical abnormalities befriends a dying man. That man's grandma went to Centauri in a daring journey. That mission apparently ultimatively failed due to a number of reasons, including the not-quite-confirmed existence of presumably hostile Centaurons. Decades later, Earth is ready to send another mission. The man dies. The monk thinks about joining the mission. |

Much too vague for my tastes, and if there was a point to the story, I obviously didn't get it, but I also don't care much. |
